Questions buyers ask
What about prices?
There is no single trade price — it moves with volume, with which collections and sizes you take, and with the terms. Tell us your market, roughly what volume you are working to and the retail price you need to hit. Trade prices come back with the first reply, within one working day.
Do we have to take a full container of one model?
No. More than one style and more than one colour load in the same container, so a first order can be an assortment rather than a bet on a single line. Quantities per style are agreed per account — tell us the shape of the order you want and we will tell you whether it works.
Can the range be adapted to our price architecture?
Within the standard range, by selecting which collections and sizes you carry. Beyond that — different materials, fittings or specification against a target retail price — becomes an own-label programme, which is a separate conversation and often the better one.
Can we review a sample before ordering?
Yes — physical product before anything is committed. Tell us which collections and colourways you want to see and we will arrange it; quantities and terms are agreed per account.
What happens when a case comes back?
It is handled by the Carlton service team. Three year international warranty on hard shell, five on soft shell — the warranty is the brand owner's, and we run the claim with them on your behalf. Your staff do not assess claims and you do not carry the cost of the replacement.
What if Carlton is not yet known in our market?
Recognition varies by market — in some it is established, in others it is not, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise. It is a fifty-year-old British name owned and manufactured by VIP Industries, so what sits behind it is a manufacturer rather than a licence.
Can we have market exclusivity?
That depends on the market and the commitment, and it is settled in writing before an order rather than promised on a website. Ask early — it is a reasonable thing to want and a poor thing to discover late.
Are you a luggage wholesaler, distributor or manufacturer?
We are the commercial partner for one brand — closest to a distributor. Not a stocklot wholesaler selling whatever is available this month, and not a factory: Carlton is owned by VIP Industries, which manufactures it. The warranty, the product data and the own-label route all exist because there is one brand behind them rather than a shifting catalogue.
Why Carlton rather than what we already stock?
Carlton is owned by the company that manufactures it, which is what makes an own-label programme possible at all and what keeps the specification inside one company rather than across three. And you do not have to be replacing anybody for this to be worth a conversation — knowing what a second supplier looks like is cheaper before you need it than after.
What does a container actually hold?
It depends on the assortment. Because the sizes nest — each case packs inside the next one up — a set ships in close to the volume of its largest piece, and that is what brings the cost per unit down. Tell us the mix you are considering and we will calculate the 20ft and 40ft piece count for it.
Will Carlton compete with us online?
We do not sell direct to consumers — we supply the trade only, and we do not sell single suitcases to anyone. What the brand owner already has in your particular market is worth asking us early, because it varies by territory and we would rather check it than guess.
