A luggage sample checklist for retail buyers
Use a sample review to compare the physical product with the agreed brief. This is a practical buying checklist, not a laboratory test or a certification of compliance.

Identify the sample before inspecting it
Record the collection, size, colour, date and whether the piece is a standard sample or a development sample. Photograph it and keep the specification beside it. Any differences should be recorded, not silently assumed to be representative of production.
- Model, size and colour reference.
- Agreed specification and sample version.
- Photographs of the exterior and interior.
Review the parts the customer will use
Operate the handles, wheels, closure and any expander. Compare the functions with the brief and note anything that needs clarification. A short inspection cannot establish long-term durability, so ask separately about applicable test information.
- Handle operation and carrying points.
- Wheel movement and attachment.
- Closure, lock instructions and interior fittings.
Check measurements and presentation
Measure the case externally and compare the result with the declared specification. Check the relevant product labels, artwork and packaging against what was agreed. Do not treat a photographed colour as a substitute for approving the physical colour reference.
- External dimensions and empty weight.
- Branding placement and approved artwork.
- Product data, care information and proposed packaging.
Close the review with a written decision
List accepted features, required changes and outstanding documents. State whether another sample is needed. Request the warranty terms and the available model-specific documentation before proceeding, and keep the final agreed specification with the order.
